How to install magnets on your new garage door hardware accents.

Wondering if there are tips and tricks to install the magnets on your brand new (and beautiful!) magnetic garage door hardware?

Read on. This may help.

ABS Plastic Hardware Installation (Captiva Collection, or Madera Collection)

1. Find your stack of smaller magnets in your package (usually in a black envelope).

2. Place the hardware piece on top of a piece of the foam packaging to avoid scratching.

3. Quickest option - Using the "stack" of magnets as leverage in your hand, push the first magnet (at the end of the stack) into the existing hole on the back of your hardware piece. You can slightly angle and wiggle the magnet piece until it has started to fit with tension.

Alternative option - do the same as above, but use a crescent wrench or pliers to leverage each magnet into the assigned hole locations.

4. Don't press all the way down on that first magnet yet. First, repeat the same process to start all the magnets on that piece.

5. Once the magnets are all pressed slightly, turn the hardware piece over and firmly press down the handle/hinge from the top side. This works best over a hard surface. This will allow all the magnets to sit firmly level across the back of your piece, and will hold the best on your garage door.

6. You're all done! You are now an official DIY'er.

Metal Hardware Installation (Captiva 2.0 Collection, or Allure Collection)

1. Find your stack of larger magnets in your package (usually in a black envelope).

2. Place the hardware piece on top of a piece of the foam packaging to avoid scratching.

3. From the stack of magnets, slide the first one off by pushing it sideways away from the others. It may take a little pushing, but will move.

4. Gently slide that larger magnet into the magnet hole location on the back of the piece, providing some tension with your fingers. It will hold in place against the metal hardware.

5. Repeat the process, and use all the magnets provided for the best holding power.

6. Yep, it was that easy ;) Enjoy your newly decorated garage doors.
